Kirsten Grigor began swimming competitively her freshman year in high school in State College, Pennsylvania where she earned All-American honors. By her junior year, she was part of the State Champion freestyle relay team: the first girls' relay team to win a State Championship in the school's history. Kirsten went on to swim for the varsity team at Penn State University, a Division I NCAA program. It was here she developed her firm grasp of the mechanics and technique that make up each stroke.

She continued to be involved with the Penn State swimming program as Head Coach of the Master's Team as well as involvement in swim camps and the age group program until 2002.

Kirsten now coaches swimming for multi-sport athletes. Her focus is teaching proper stroke technique which is essential to injury prevention and efficiency in the water. Kirsten believes that technique and stroke efficiency are especially important for the triathlete. Her training will provide the competitive edge to get out of the water faster and with more energy to complete the rest of the race.

Kirsten has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and an Art History minor and graduated with honors in 2001. She recently relocated to Virginia after living and working in New York City as a Litigation Graphic Consultant and artist. She lives with her husband, dog and cat in Arlington, Virginia.
